Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (Pep)

Who needs it?
Anyone bitten, scratched, or exposed to saliva from a suspected rabid animal.

At Which Purpose?
To prevent the rabies virus from progressing to the brain, which is fatal once symptoms appear.

What do PEP often includes?
1. Wound cleaning
2. Rabies vaccine doses on a specific schedule
3. Rabies Immunoglobulin (RIG) for severe exposures
